Approach broadcast material not just as content, but also as data
The Media Suite operates at the intersection of research, technology, and cultural heritage. As a virtual research environment within the national CLARIAH infrastructure and as an innovation platform at the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision, it supports research into large-scale audiovisual and textual collections using, among other things, AI applications. This session addresses the question of how broadcast material can be approached not just as content, but also as data. Topics covered include scalable and secure access to archives, the use of technologies such as automatic speech recognition and visual analysis, and the translation of research and data science questions into product development and technical infrastructure. The presentation shows how national research infrastructure and institutional R&D connect, and how developers, archivists, and researchers collaborate to build a sustainable and robust environment for cross-media analysis.”
